Thomas Janssens
ILLUSTRATOR / VISUAL ARTIST
ABOUT
Thomas Janssens (2000, Hasselt) is a visual artist and illustrator based in Ghent, Belgium.

After completing his Master’s degree in Graphic Storytelling at LUCA School of Arts in Brussels, Thomas shifted his focus from publishing to developing an autonomous artistic practice.

The work of Thomas Janssens originates from language. A sentence, a thought, or a fragment from literature often serves as the starting point for his visual research. His drawings explore the narrative that unfolds beyond the frame of the image: what precedes it, what follows, what is merely suggested. Inspired by novels, music albums, and everyday streams of thought, Thomas searches for ways in which words can transform into images. The result is a visual language that balances between interpretation and naïve poetry, where text and drawing intertwine and open up new layers of meaning.
